Leon Slater Says TNA World Championship Is ‘Finally Beginning To Feel Mine’

Leon Slater comments on his TNA World Championship reign.
At TNA Bound for Glory, Leon Slater defeated Nic Nemeth and became the youngest TNA World Champion in the company’s history. He accomplished his goal five years earlier than he predicted.
Speaking on the I Love Wrestling Podcast, Slater commented on his title reign.
“It feels very surreal, man. It took a while for it to settle in because I kind of felt like I was carrying Nic Nemeth’s belt around for a while just because I’ve so used to seeing him with it,” Slater said. “Obviously, I still live at home, which is a great balance to have between my professional life and my personal life. So as any other 22-year-old does after he wins a world title, I hopped on GTA with my friends the other day. I was playing my PlayStation, and I had the TNA Championship set up on my TV table, and I was on the party with my friends. I go, ‘You know what I’m looking at right now?’ They go, ‘Oh yeah, we’re driving through Los Santos, whatever.” I go, “No, no, bro. I’m looking at the TNA World Championship.” Like, it’s in my room as I’m playing, and it was just so difficult for me to compute. This is the same room I’ve sat in for the past, you know 10-15 years. It’s the same game I’ve been playing for the past 13 years, and the only difference is I’ve got the actual TNA World Championship on my TV table. So, it’s finally beginning to feel mine. I’m excited for it to take me in a new direction. I’m excited to take it in a new direction as well and make some magic as TNA World Champion.”
Slater is currently scheduled to defeat the title against Trey Miguel at TNA Destination X.
