Luke Menzies (Ridge Holland) Reveals He Almost Lost Trust In Himself In The Ring After Big E’s Neck Injury

Luke Menzies says he almost didn’t trust himself in the ring after Big E got injured.

During a tag team match on SmackDown in 2022, Luke Menzies teamed up with Sheamus against Kofi Kingston and Big E. During the match, Big E suffered a neck injury from Menzies, which ultimately led to his retirement.

Speaking on Wrestling Life recently, Menzies said when he came backstage after the Big E match, he saw some of the top stars sitting there, such as Brock Lesnar. He knew he wouldn’t get to work with them in the future because they weren’t going to trust him.

“When the accident happened, we came to the back and Brock [Lesnar] was sitting next to Vince [McMahon]. There was other top stars there and you want to work with these guys. It’s like ‘Well, that’s my chance of working with these guys gone because they ain’t going to trust me.’ I almost didn’t trust myself again in the ring and I think that affected my performances as well.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Menzies opened up about an apology segment he was supposed to do after Big E’s injury until Vince McMahon canceled it at the last second. Fans can check his comments here.
