Malakai Black Says He Was Presented With A ‘Dud’ Year In WWE That Was Nothing Close To ‘Mountains’ Of Promises Made

Malakai Black (Aleister Black in WWE) returned to the promotion after WrestleMania 41, coming off a run in AEW where he was a member of House of Black.

During his year in WWE, Malakai feuded with people like Randy Orton Damian Priest, and was aligned on-screen with his wife Xelina (Zelina Vega in WWE).

He and his wife were released in April.

“When I got released, the first person on the phone to send me a message that really hit me on a deep level was Damo. Damo said some words to me that really drove home. It really pulled me out of a really bad spot that I was mentally. I can pretend that it didn’t suck, but of course it sucks. It always sucks. In my case, it sucked harder because of the mountains of things that were promised in all the other conversations, and then being presented with this fucking dud of a year. Despite main events and all these things, it was just wasn’t anything that they said they wanted to do. To me, it was like, why did you guys even want this? Because this made no fucking sense,” Malakai said while speaking to Xelina and Charlie on their podcast ZELVX and CHARLIE GIRL.

Malakai explained his connection with Damo from before their WWE days and said Damo offered him bookings in PROGRESS, which he and his wifee Nikki Storm had acquired after Nikki was released by WWE.

Malakai won the PROGRESS Title during the Odyssey Tour.
