There's been an update in the ongoing court case involving the death of independent wrestler Matt Travis.
PWInsider reported that Luc Vu, the man arrested following the wrestler's death in 2019, pleaded guilty back on September 4 to reckless driving and failure to exercise due care, causing serious injury as well as failure to yield to a bicyclist.
As such, Vu's driver's license had been revoked for six months, had to pay a $250 fine on the failure to yield to a bicyclist charge and that he would receive a conditional discharge in one year if he does not get into any more legal trouble, resulting in the case being sealed after one year, per court records. According to the report, Vu is still free and scheduled for a hearing on December 4 to see if he is complying with the court orders.
Travis, 25, was on a bicycle at East 125th Street and First Avenue in New York on November 9, 2019 when he was struck by a dump truck reportedly driven by Vu close 3 a.m. ET. Vu was originally scheduled to appear in court on October 19 after multiple delays due to COVID-19.
Travis wrestled for House of Glory, CZW, GCW, and other Independent promotions. HOG dedicated its No Limit event on November 16 to Travis. On the November 20, 2019 episode of AEW Dynamite, a tag team between the team of Santana & Ortiz and Private Party was dedicated to Travis.
