Th rivalry between Kairi Sane and Shayna Baszler dates back to the 2017 Mae Young Classic tournament when Kairi got the best of Shayna in the finals. Their rivalry carried over to NXT TV. The two women soon went their separate ways but they were bound to clash again.
Shayna went on to capture the NXT Women's Championship at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans and reigned until TakeOver: Brooklyn IV where she was defeated by Kairi Sane for the NXT Women's Championship. The storied rivalry between two NXT superstars continued tonight at WWE's first-ever all-women's PPV 'Evolution'.
Shayna Baszler and Kairi Sane took the fight to one another as they normally do whenever they step into the ring together but this time around there were others involved in the decision of their match. Sitting at ringside were NXT stars and Shayna's best-friends Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke. Kairi flipped Shayna over the barricade onto Marina and Jessamyn which led to the UFC trio banding together to distract Kairi. When it was all said and done it was the distraction by Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke that allowed for Shayna Baszler to lock in her signature submission hold which put Kairi to sleep and now "The Queen Of Spades" is the first-ever two-time NXT Women's Champion.
