Marina Shafir has been released by WWE.

Former NXT Superstar Marina Shafir has been released by WWE as of Friday, June 25, 2021, PWInsider and Fightful have confirmed.

Two Bouts Added To AEW Dynasty Zero Hour

During her time in WWE, she was most prominently featured in NXT while Shayna Baszler was NXT Women's Champion, and Marina Shafir, along with Jessamyn Duke, regularly assisted Baszler in her championship rivalries. Duke was released in May 2021.

Marina Shafir was briefly featured on Monday Night Raw as part of the short-lived Raw Underground experiment, which featured an underground fight club with brief fight segments that were meant to showcase a brand that loosely mimicked mixed martial arts.

Her last match was in January on WWE 205 Live as part of the Women's Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Cup Tournament. Marina teamed with Zoey Stark in a losing effort to Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon.

Prior to that, she was featured in September 2020, as part of a Battle Royal on NXT. Her last singles match took place over a year ago in March 2020, where she lost to Chelsea Green on an NXT live event.

Shafir’s Husband, Roderick Strong, recently returned to NXT as part of the new Diamond Mine faction.

Shafir first appeared in the crowd supporting Shayna Baszler during the first-ever Mae Young Classic. The Four Horsewomen of MMA, Ronda Rousey, Shayna Baszler Jessamyn Duke, and Marina Shafir would have a brief moment of tension with WWE’s version of The Four Horsewomen, Sasha Banks, Bayley, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte Flair.

Although it was always teased that these two groups would have a match, that match would never come to be.

Marina posted the following comments on her release:
