Mark Henry Reveals WWE Designed The Silver ECW Title Specifically for Him

Mark Henry describes the creation of the silver ECW Title.

Mark Henry was the last person to hold the WWE ECW Championship belt, which featured the original design of the ECW Championship before the company went bankrupt in 2001. That title was replaced by a large silver championship that suited someone of Henry’s size.

Now, Mark Henry explains that the ECW Championship belt used from 2008 to 2010 was created specifically for someone like him to hold the title without it looking like a toy.

“They wanted to find a title that fit me, because if you look at those pictures, that ECW title was very small, and it was like one of the old-school type belts, and they wanted me to have a belt that was befitting of a giant. So they designed this. I mean, that belt was huge, and it was probably about 10 to 12 pounds. It was very heavy and I had to go buy a new bag for a carry-on because it wouldn’t fit in my old luggage,” he told Isiah Madrigal.

Ultimately, Ezekiel Jackson would be the final man to hold that belt in 2010 before WWE ECW switched to WWE NXT.

Mark Henry is now a member of the WWE Hall of Fame and is a podcaster for Busted Open Radio. His son, Jacob Henry, is a part of the WWE NIL program.
