Marty Scurll has big things in store for Ring of Honor when the promotion begins running live shows again. Scurll took over lead booking duties when he signed a new contract at the beginning of the year and though he hasn't had his fingerprints fully on the product just yet, he knows exactly what he wants to do.
Speaking on the ROHStrong podcast, Scurll laid out his vision for what he sees in ROH.
"In terms of creative, it's difficult coming in because there's so much stuff you want to do right away, but obviously there's a foundation of creative. So you have to finish that stuff off, which is why I was super excited to get through March, April, and May and come out in June with all new stuff. In terms of creative, it's not just me, it's a handful of guys. I'm a big believer in making big things happen on every show, not having any B shows, making sure there's always something that shocks people. We call ourselves the best wrestling on the planet, so my aim is to achieve that every show. Hunter Johnson, who is still booking now, has always done a great job, but having fresh eyes on it and fresh ideas is helpful. Trying to work out what works best and putting it into fruition."
He continued, "I helped out creativity with other companies and it's always something I wanted to do. I'm eager to get back to work and make this splash. A lot of people saw changes already with the Pure Title and Women's Title. Another thing I'd love to get back to; be this collection of the biggest stars in the world. Personally, I feel like I'm a great person to pick them because I've wrestled all over the world. There are guys I've worked with that maybe ROH was unaware of before. I want it to be a showcase of stars. I want wrestling to be the focal point and I want us to be undeniable. That's what ROH was always known for."
ROH was set to crown a new Pure and Women's Champion before the coronavirus pandemic caused the company to cancel all events through May.
