Matt Cardona Says There Was A Point When He Thought He Was Holding Steph De Lander Back On The Indies

Matt Cardona thought he was holding Steph De Lander back.

While Matt Cardona was on the independents, he formed a partnership with Steph De Lander. As a duo, they made their way through multiple independent promotions, and it carried over to TNA Wrestling.

While speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Cardona said he had been doing everything right, but the call from WWE never came. Cardona said he felt like he was holding De Lander down at one point.

“At one point I thought there’s no way I’m getting back (to WWE) because I was doing everything. Indie Wrestler of the Year, cover of PWI, I was with Steph De Lander at the time because Chelsea (Green) had gone back, and I texted Steph, I said, ‘You need to get away from me because I’m holding you down. There’s no way I’m ever going back, because if not now, when?'”

Cardona is back with WWE full-time and is on the Friday Night SmackDown brand.
