Matt Hardy recalls how his ‘Live For The Moment’ theme song was originally pitched as a team song for The Hardy Boyz.
The Hardy’s theme song, ‘Loaded’ is one of the most instantly recognizable pieces of theme music in professional wrestling history, with surprise appearances leading to fans instantly knowing who is making their entrance as a result. However, at one point, the tag team almost were given a theme that Matt would use later on in his career.
While speaking to Ropes N Riffs in a new interview, Matt Hardy recalled having the theme song pitched to the Hardys.
“In early 2002, they had made a song specifically for us, and Monster Magnet did it, which was ‘Live For The Moment.’ They said ‘Hey, we wrote this specifically for the Hardy Boyz. You guys are big stars now. This is specifically for you, it’s from a pretty notable band, Monster Magnet. We would love for you to start using it.’ Jeff and I both listened to it and we were like ‘It’s okay, but we’re going to say no thanks for right now because we really like Loaded. It’s associated with us and as soon as that hits, the crowd explodes, and it really kind of sets the pace for what we’re going to do.’ We didn’t want to use that, but later, as you know, I turned that around when I turned and became a bad guy in pro-wrestling as a heel. That became my song, Live For The Moment. I couldn’t imagine ‘Matt Hardy Version 1’ having any other entrance music, other than ‘I can slap a tornado.’”
‘Broken’ Matt Hardy recently returned to TNA programming. You can read more about that here.
