Maven: Triple H Quickly Squashed Any Push For Me In WWE

Maven explains why he dislikes Triple H.

Over the years, Maven has taken a number of shots at Triple H on his YouTube channel, whether he’s speaking about current day WWE or his time with the company. In his latest video, Maven detailed his issues with HHH.

He began by saying that he felt like HHH was in his corner when he first got to WWE, and said Triple H gave him his first pair of wrestling boots. When he teamed with HHH on Raw against Kurt Angle and the Undertaker, he said HHH eased his nervousness. He believed he had a teacher-student relationship with Triple H during his first year and they would speak once a week.

“The relationship I had with Hunter on day one was the same relationship I had with him on the last day. What did change was my trust in Triple H. I wasn’t the only one. Guys backstage and in the ring were in his face, laughing, smiling, talking, but they were also trying to better their spot on the card and that their job would remain the next time Vince had his next round of cuts. Guys talked about how Triple H was meandering his way into Vince’s good graces. Guys would constantly question his relationship with Steph. I’m not going to question love, but I do know the definition of convenience, and that was a convenient relationship for Hunter,” he said.

He went on to say that many talked about Triple H’s position on the card and how he got there, while blaming him for why they might not be in that position.

Over time, he started to notice things change and that Triple H would make snide remarks to him or about him, on and off television.

“I didn’t know this during my time in the WWE, but I would have it confirmed years after my wrestling career had ended, from someone who was actually in those production meetings and went to bat for me, that every time my name was brought up, it was quickly squashed back down. Who was the one doing the squashing? None other than Triple H. If people thought, ‘here is a good direction that we can send Maven on,’ it would quickly be diminished. ‘He’s not ready. He’s not there yet. He needs more time.’ I’m not saying he was wrong; he wasn’t. I did need more time and I wasn’t ready, but I know there have been other people with the same skill level as me and they did get that extra push. it’s hard to get that push when someone is constantly pulling you back and that someone has the ear of Vince McMahon,” he said.

He did give Triple H credit for taking his job seriously.

Triple H and Maven wrestled three singles matches against each other during Maven’s time in WWE. Triple H won all three.
