Mick Foley Talks Sasha Banks' Title Win

Even as RAW General Manager, Mick Foley is still very opinionated as it pertains several aspects of the WWE. So it's no surprise that he had thoughts on Sasha Banks winning the WWE Women's Championship on the first episode of Monday Night RAW after WWE Battleground, which also happened to be first RAW after the WWE Draft.

Foley was interviewed by Work of Wrestling and spoke on how much Banks' victory was important for people who are considered underdogs.

"So many great characters that make it on a large level, people see parts of themselves in that person," Foley said. "Great success comes when people have a legitimate reason to root because they feel like in a sense they are rooting for themselves. The victory in a way was a victory for the underdogs and people have been told they were not good enough, cool enough, strong enough.?

Foley was asked about the progress of women's wrestling in WWE and if he was pleased with the current state. WWE has been pushing women's wrestling more and more after they initiated the "Divas Revolution" in 2015.

?I am," Foley responded. "There were definitely some bumps in the road. I think we can expect some more. But I think the victory for Sasha was really monumental, like a seismic shift. Hopefully, we will be seeing it as a statement.?

The WWE Hall of Famer Foley hasn't made his affection in regards to women's wrestling much of a secret -- he's often blogged about their matches, and has served as a mentor to many of the talents
