MJF: Bret Hart Is One Of The Greatest Of All-Time, But He’s No Shawn Michaels

MJF weighs in on the old Shawn Michaels vs. Bret Hart debate.

Many have asked throughout history, Bret or Shawn?

Speaking to Ariel Helwani, MJF gave his answer.

“He’s one of the greatest wrestlers of all-time. He’s no Shawn Michaels, but he’s one of the greatest of all-time. I have a reason to pretend Shawn Michaels isn’t better than Bret Hart because he’s the WWE NXT guy, but I’m not going to sit here and do that. He was a better talker, he was more athletic in the ring, he was the better wrestler, he was more exciting. He drew you in more. Bret was good at a time period where he was able to get away with being an incredible work rate guy. His promos were good, but they weren’t like, ‘Woah!’ I’m not even talking shit. He’s a legend, a hall of famer, he’ll go down as one of the all-time greats. When you put him bar for bar against Shawn, I never understood the comparison,” he said.

MJF did say that Steve Austin is the actual bar. Austin’s hottest period came after Bret had left WWE and Shawn took time off due to injury.

Elsewhere during the interview, the former AEW World Champion gave further comments on Bret hart. You can read them here.
