MJF: I Was The Drizzling Shits For Three Months After Adam Cole Broke His Ankle

MJF gets honest about his run in 2023.

Throughout a vast majority of 2023, MJF and Adam Cole were entangled in a deep story that weaved throughout AEW and Ring Of Honor programming. Before the story could reach a natural and satisfying conclusion, Cole unfortunately suffered a serious ankle injury in September that put him on the shelf for a full year.

After the injury, MJF continued on as the AEW World Champion until the Worlds End pay-per-view in December, where he dropped the belt to Samoa Joe.

Speaking with Self Made Pro for a new interview, MJF reflected on his stint after Cole’s injury, admitting that he was the “drizzling shits” for three months.

“Three months, I did what I admit — I had an unfun time after Adam Cole broke his ankle. Wrestling fans had an unfun time after Adam Cole broke his ankle. I was the drizzling shits for three months after Adam Cole broke his ankle because I was dealing with the loss of a friendship, I was dealing with the loss of knowing who I was as a performer. On multiple levels, I didn’t know who I was anymore for three months. Three months out of years of proving that I was the biggest draw, years of proving that I was the biggest star, years of proving that I was the best bell-to-bell, years of proving that I was the best on the microphone. Those three months, people ran with it. I understand why they did because I hated those three months. I wake up in a cold sweat and I think about those three months. This world title reign, this belt, this run since I have come back has done nothing but wake the fans up and wake me up. Those lapsed fans that left because they felt like MJF left, they’re coming back. They’re coming back into the buildings, they’re coming back to buy pay-per-views, they’re coming back to watch the product because MJF is back. I’ll say this right now, I’ll put my motherfucking name on this. This is the best version of MJF that there’s ever been. I’m only gonna get better, I’m not even 30 yet. I’ve got 20 more years in this sport.”

Continuing on, MJF bragged about being one of the youngest top guys in the industry.

“Let’s talk names of top guys right now. I’m not gonna tell you to say their ages because you know. CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, LA Knight, Jey Uso. I think you people know where I’m going with this, I’m the youngest top guy by a fucking landslide. I got 20 more years of greatness, I will go down as the greatest of all time. I need this belt to prove that. But you know who else feels that way? Will Ospreay, Kenny Omega, Andrade, Darby Allin, Swerve Strickland, Brody King, this list goes on and on. The reason that our product is must see right now is because we all want to be the goat. The fucking simple fact of the matter is I’m the Michael Jordan of this generation. These other people, they can be Shaq, they can be Penny, they can have fun. Only one person gets to be MJ, I’m MJ.”

On the February 25 episode of AEW Dynamite, MJF is set to decide on the stipulation for his AEW Revolution match with Adam Page. Check out the current lineup for the show by clicking here.
