Murphy Says Seth Rollins Approached Him About Joining His Stable

Murphy's inclusion into Seth Rollins' new group that includes AOP was something that Rollins had approached the former Cruiserweight champion about.

Coming to the aid of Rollins and AOP in their match against Kevin Owens, Samoa Joe and Big Show on Raw a few weeks ago, Murphy is the latest to join Rollins. Talking about the specifics of the partnership, Murphy revealed that it was Rollins who came to him with the idea. Murphy liked the idea as it would put him in a position to be a part of big storylines on Raw.

"It’s pretty real what you’re seeing in the sense I respect Seth a lot. I’m his follower, or disciple, or whatever you want to call it and there’s a lot I can learn from him. It’s a really fun dynamic that I think can lead to some good storylines and working alongside AOP, working alongside Seth in the ring is great, too. Seth did approach me about it, yes. I was very excited to have a story to sink my teeth into because I know I can go out there and perform. I’ve proven that and I’ve stolen many, many shows I’ve been on, but the character aspect and connecting with fans is something you always want to work on. This is the perfect opportunity for that," Murphy told talkSPORT.

The partnership has paid off almost immediately with Murphy and Rollins winning the Raw Tag Team Championship.

On the most recent episode of Raw, Murphy, Rollins and AOP picked up a victory against Owens, Joe and The Viking Raiders in the main event. For full results of Raw, click here.
