Io Shirai has become the new NXT Women?s Champion.
Headlining NXT TakeOver: In Your House, Shirai defeated both Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley in a triple threat match to win the title, her first since signing with WWE.
The match also ends Flair?s reign as champion at roughly two months, which started after she defeated Ripley at WrestleMania 36. Shirai originally challenged for the NXT Women?s Championship weeks later on NXT television, but the match failed to reach a definitive conclusion with Ripley making her presence known. This led to a feud between the three for the title.
