The finish saw Woods counter a kimura with a wheelbarrow suplex out of a tombstone for the victory.

The match was restarted at the request of Gresham following a double pinfall. Gresham retained the title as a result of the draw, but wanted there to be a definitive winner.

After the bout, Gresham adhered to the Code of Honor by strapping the belt around the waist of Woods.

Gresham won the vacant belt on the October 20, 2020 episode of ROH Television when he defeated Tracy Williams in the tournament finals. Gresham made seven defenses for the title during his reign. The marks the first reign with the ROH Pure Title for Woods.
