New WWE Champion Crowned On 3/1/21 Monday Night Raw

The March 1 episode of WWE Raw kicked off with The Miz trying to convince Drew McIntyre to get involved in his match with Bobby Lashley. McIntyre made it very clear that the maze was going to have to win the championship on his own.

When the time came for the first match, The Miz complained of a stomach issue due to anxiety. This earned him an extra hour as WWE Champion. When it was time for the second match, The Miz quickly got himself counted out.

The night wouldn’t end that quickly for The Miz. Shane McMahon would mandate that The Miz defend his championship legitimately or he would just be stripped of the title.

Finally, in the Lumberjack setting, Bobby Lashley was able to quickly make the Miz submit to The Full Nelson aka The Hurt Lock to capture his first championship.

With this win, Bobby Lashley became the first Superstar to capture a World Championship by way of a Lumberjack Match on WWE TV. He also became one of the few names to capture a WWE Championship on Monday Night Raw, joining the likes of Steve Austin, The Rock, Mankind, Triple H, and Edge.

Bobby Lashley has also become only the third African American Superstar to capture the WWE Championship. The longest-running championship in WWE’s lineage.

Now, Bobby Lashley looks to headline his first WrestleMania as WWE Champion.
