- WWE has listed many new job openings on the production end of things including a director for Live Events, specifically located in the northeast.
Director, Live Events – Northeast
- The WWE is hiring and looking for a new Director of Live Events! This position will be based at WWE’s global headquarters in Stamford, CT reporting directly to the VP, Live Events.
- This person will be responsible for leading and/or supervising all aspects of marketing, sales, and public relations for approximately 80-100 events annually. The candidate will initially concentrate on the Northeastern portion of the United States and Eastern Canada.
- This person will provide strategic management and continuity between events and markets in the region both in scheduling and marketing working collaboratively with the departmental colleagues to improve the success of live shows/tours.
- Responsibilities:
- Oversee staff of Marketing Managers for the region
- Provide and/or coordinate scaling and pricing for all regional events
- Develop media/advertising campaign and strategy per event based upon assigned budgets
- Build meaningful relations with both media & venue partners within the region
- Work with local media partners and venues to build and implement marketing strategies, sales and creative promotions
- Ensure standard methodologies adhered to regarding talent relations, local production, logistics, etc.
- Provide regional market insights regarding live entertainment industry initiatives
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of appropriate market demographics
- Participation in departmental strategy meetings with the VP & SVP of Live Events
- Determine and manage the live shows/tours P&L
- When appropriate, engage other WWE business lines to ensure Live Events is accurately aligned
- Work with live event creative services, TV/Digital and radio producers to develop a custom creative strategy in each market
- Work with detailed sales reports and reporting methods
- Build and analyze various reports on event sales and trends
- Required to be on site for all events in the Northeast region which the Director is the event lead and responsible for day of event accountabilities
- Qualifications:
- 7 years live entertainment proven experience, preferably live shows/tours or venue management
- Demonstrable history of excellent industry contacts and working relationships
- Proven track record in promoting profitable live shows/tours
- Broad knowledge of current markets and venues landscape
- Excellent negotiation, communication and presentation skills
- Bachelor's Degree
- Must be flexible with working nights, weekends and holidays
- Significant travel for meetings & events will be expected (40-60% annually)They are also hiring in the TV production/Digital Media area.
In addition, they are looking for a production assistant, both domestically and internationally, and a production manager.
- Hiroshi Tanahashi spoke about Shinsuke Nakamura in his latest blog for the official New Japan Pro Wrestling website.
It was joining CHAOS, and adopting that Boma Ye for a finish, that’s what finally made Nakamura hone in on his style. He went through a lot of trial and error, being a power guy for a while, bringing lucha into his stuff as well. But he gradually chipped away the stuff he didn’t need, and what was left was the real deal. I came out on the losing end, but this was the hottest year of our rivalry, I think.
Well, I think Nakamura had a far deeper connection to Inoki than I ever did, and this
was in connection with his comments before as well. I think it showed our different approaches- mine was to build for the future without looking at the past. My logic was that the past really doesn’t matter. If things are getting hot now, if the fans are enjoying what they’re getting right now, then that’s what counts right? To take it a step further, what good comes from comparing yourself to the past? On the other hand, Nakamura was saying that if you compared what we were doing to what came before us, then there was no doubt that we were better.

- A new wrestling Audio Drama called The Luchador is coming to podcast locations everywhere.
LOS ANGELES, CA – / A fresh action-adventure audio drama featuring some of the most recognizable and eclectic voices in professional wrestling makes its in-ring debut across every major podcast platform on Tuesday, October 5th.
The Luchador: The 1,000 Fights of El Fuego Fuerte is set in a supernaturally charged world of Lucha Libre and Mesoamerican myth. The show follows the story of the “Champion of Mexico City”, the heroic yet often ethically perplexed El Fuego Fuerte. Season one finds Fuerte confronting an Aztec vampire menacem on a rampage to corrupt and enlist Mexico City’s finest wrestlers into their undead army.
Colt Cabana, well known wrestler seen in both AEW and WWE, joins the cast as a guest star right from Chapter One. Cabana summed up his interest in the project, “After wrestling around the world for the past two decades, I have never seen Lucahdores fighting vampires. It must be seen… I mean… heard to be believed.”
Another wrestler who’s built a loyal fanbase through his online presence and work in Ring Of Honor, Danhausen, weighed in with his experience on the show in his own inimitable style, “Danhausen had a great time on The Luchador because it allowed him to do a whole new role. Danhausen’s character he played was very bad, very evil! Much different than very nice, very evil.”
The five-episode debut season goes on to be filled with more guest stars every major wrestling fan will know and love including including Luchasaurus (AEW, Lucha Underground), Effie (Effie’s Big Gay Brunch), and Raven (ECW, WWE)
Show creator Daniel Valero Fletcher drew inspiration to create this fresh take on the beloved pastime of Lucha Libre from his long-time love of professional wrestling and desire to bring inclusive representation of Latinx/e voices to noir storytelling. Valero Fletcher states, “I hope this show is a gateway that inspires people to go and watch some of the amazing films made in Mexico in the 1960s and 70s. Lucha Libre stars like El Santo and Blue Demon really inspired this podcast. In a lot of ways, The Luchador is me honoring a part of my culture that I’ve always wanted to feel closer to.”
