Nick Aldis Says He Rejected AEW Contract, But Working With Them Is Brought Up To Him Almost Daily

Although the NWA has managed to start doing its own shows and pay-per-views without the strict need to work with other promotions, Nick Aldis said the idea of working with AEW is brought regularly.

Before AEW was officially a thing, Aldis did work with current AEW EVP Cody and was in a marquee match at the "All In" show in 2018, wrestling Cody for the NWA World Heavyweight title. Aldis admitted that he was actually offered a contract from AEW but rejected it to remain with the NWA. Despite sticking with the NWA, working with AEW does remain a possibility, according to Aldis.

?Working with AEW is brought up to me almost daily. The NWA is open to working with anyone. There are a number of wrestlers outside the WWE that are viewed as elite-level guys, so it?s only a matter of time before the audience starts demanding the main-event matches they want to see. We want to give the fans the matches they want to see, these super fights," Aldis told Sports Illustrated. ?If AEW wants to be involved in big, marquee matches, then they have two choices: go out and write some more big checks to some more guys, or they?re going to have to come to the table and work out some super fights with the NWA.?

Even if the NWA isn't working with AEW for the moment, it is working with ROH with Aldis and ROH's Flip Gordon set to do battle at the Hard Times pay-per-view. Fightful will have live coverage of Hard Times.

It should be noted that in the article, Aldis isn't quoted on the contract offer from AEW, instead being paraphrased.
