Nigel McGuinness Wants One More Shot At Lee Moriarty’s ROH Pure Title: “If I Don’t Win It This Time, I Will Go Quietly Into The Night”
Nigel wants one more crack at the belt.
It was at Ring of Honor’s Final Battle pay-per-view in 2024 that Lee Moriarty defeated Nigel McGuinness to retain the ROH Pure Championship. They ran it back at the 2025 Final Battle pay-per-view in an Iron Man match that Moriarty won.
Coming up for ROH is the Supercard of Honor event on May 15th, and on that show, McGuinness will be going one-on-one against Josh Woods in a Pure Rules match.
Ahead of the bout, McGuinness chatted with Justin Dhillon of The Wrestling Classic and stated that if he is to beat Woods, he’s looking at getting another shot at Moriarty. McGuinness said if he cannot beat Moriarty the next time, he’ll ‘go quietly into the night.’
“He (Josh Woods) was going on a run. He’s put a lot of big names down. He’s faced Lee Moriarty a couple of times, and I just felt like I was probably the missing piece to his puzzle. If he’s gonna challenge Lee for that Pure Title again, then he probably needs to beat me to be able to do it because if he can’t beat me, I don’t think he’s got a chance against Lee for that matter and then if he can’t beat Lee, as I said in the interview, I would (be) more than willing to take one more, one last shot at Lee for the Pure Title and if I don’t win it this time, I will go quietly into the night.”
