The strides Nikki Bella has made in the ring are undeniable, but being the girlfriend of the face of the WWE has made things a little rough, she says.
Bella recently overcame the odds to return to the WWE from a serious neck injury. However, in an interview with Digital Spy, the former WWE Divas Champion addressed a recent Carmella promo on Smackdown Live, where her foe said Bella's boyfriend John Cena is the reason she's a prominent figure in the company.
"It's not the first time I've heard it," she told Digital Spy. "I've actually had to hear it for the past four years of my life. Every single day. Actually at first I wanted to commend her. You're the first one who actually pretty much had the balls to come out and say it."
Bella says that Carmella couldn't be more wrong.
"It makes my career so much harder, because no matter how hard I work I'm always going to have people take away everything I do because of John. I won't get certain things because people will be like, 'Oh, people are gonna think she has this because of John' so let's just not give it to me I have to work so much harder being with a successful man to just prove myself. I could be at some event wanting to do business with people and they automatically go to John and not me because I'm with someone like that. It makes me laugh because people think it's easy and I get everything because of him when it's the exact opposite," Bella said.
Bella is currently slated to lead Smackdown's women in a Survivor Series elimination match later this month.
