Oba Femi Believes A Title Defense Vs Tony D'Angelo Is 'The Match To Make'

Oba Femi says a rematch with Tony D'Angelo is the match to make.

On the October 8th, 2024 edition of WWE NXT, Tony D'Angelo would shockingly defeat Oba Femi for the WWE NXT North American Championship, a title Oba had held since January of last year. Now as NXT Champion, Oba would like a rematch with Tony D.

While speaking to WFLA News Channel 8 in a recent interview before NXT Battleground this past weekend, Oba spoke about future potential challengers, naming D'Angelo as a possible future opponent that makes sense.

"When it comes to true threats to my title and position, there's not many left. Unless we outsource to TNA or we outsource to the main roster and find someone who is worthy to challenge. But based on story and sequential occurences, I do have a loss to Tony D'Angelo. He took the North American Championship off of me last year around October. So if I was the booker, that would be the match to make, because he's the last person to pin Oba Femi clean 1-2-3. But I know I can easily defeat Tony if I really wanted to."

Oba most recently defended his championship at NXT Battleground on May 25th, defeating Myles Borne to retain. You can read more about that match here.
