Paige sets the record straight.
Reports began circulating that Paige had been cleared to return to the ring after PWInsider's Mike Johnson said on Elite Audio that she could "take a bump or wrestle tomorrow." He went on to say that "WWE would not let her take the bump." Johnson was speculating more than reporting and seemingly made it clear that Paige "could" take the bump, but it wouldn't be in her best interest. Sites began reporting Johnson's words as him saying that "she had been cleared for competition."
A fan asked Paige about the report on social media. The SmackDown Live General Manager cleared things up for anyone who may have been confused.
In fairness to Johnson, he issued a statement clearing up the report attached to his name as well. Johnson once again stated that, while Paige could take the bump or wrestle, it would be at her own risk and reiterated that WWE has not cleared her in any wrestling capacity.
Paige officially retired from in-ring competition on Apr. 9 following multiple neck injuries.
