Paul Heyman weighed in on why Edge's best friend is no longer with WWE.
Yesterday it was announced that Edge would face Jey Uso on the March 19 episode of SmackDown to determine who would serve as special enforcer for the Universal Championship match at Fastlane. On the latest installment of Talking Smack, Paul Heyman said that Edge has pissed off The Head of the Table, even suggesting that Christian ran away before Roman Reigns could target him. Here is his full statement:
"The conspiracy here is against Roman Reigns. How many challengers can there be for the Universal Championship during WrestleMania season? Daniel Bryan, the most unambitious man in the history of WWE, he tells you this himself. Daniel Bryan now wants, needs, desires, craves being the Universal Champion. Why? Because he wants to take the Championship off of Roman Reigns.
Then there's Edge. You think this man with a surgically repaired neck would learn not to piss off your Tribal Chief because that's what Edge has done. It's not healthy for Edge. I want you to think about this, Edge. Your best friend in this world knew he was going to become Roman Reigns' target just to get into your head and what did he do? He ran away before Roman Reigns could target him. How many of your "Christians" need to convert before you realize it's not smart to piss off Roman Reigns? You, Edge, have pissed off Roman Reigns."
Heyman continued on to suggest that Edge is only getting involved because he knows that a match with Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania would be easier. He closed by saying that there is only one opinion in WWE that matters and it's not even that of Vince McMahon, it's Roman Reigns.
Christian Cage debuted in AEW at Revolution on Sunday, March 7. Just three days later he came face-to-face with AEW World Champion Kenny Omega.
