Roxanne Perez Reveals She Had Opportunity With AAA When She Was 16, But Her Parents Did Not Approve
Roxanne Perez’s parents did not approve of the opportunity.
Night one of Lucha Libre AAA’s Triplemanía 34 is taking place on September 11th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
One of the advertised bouts is a Fatal 4-Way that will see Roxanne Perez versus Faby Apache versus Nattie versus La Hiedra. The winner will secure a AAA Reina de Reinas Title match at WWE Worlds Collide on September 26th.
Ahead of the #1 contender’s match, Perez was interviewed by OutKick Dropkick. She shared that she once had an opportunity on the table with AAA when she was 16, but her parents did not approve.
“I’m so excited. So, a little backstory: I have been training to become a WWE superstar since I was 13 years old, and when I was 16, I actually had an invitation to come to AAA, train here, be on their shows, and that was really something that I wanted to do because, obviously, I wanted to wrestle all around the world and make a big name for myself, but, I was 16 years old so my parents weren’t fully in on that. So, I didn’t get to take that opportunity but now AAA is a part of WWE and I’m taking my opportunity and I’m not asking for permission from anybody. I’m so excited to be here and also to just represent my culture. I am Mexican and I’m Puerto Rican, So, to be able to represent that and be here as a main roster WWE superstar, it’s really exciting.”
Perez is a member of The Judgment Day faction along with WWE Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan and Women’s Intercontinental Champion Raquel Rodriguez.
