"The Pope" Elijah Burke Appears On NWA Powerrr, Scouting Teams

NWA gained a veteran to their roster.

"The Pope," also known as D'Angelo Dinero and Elijah Burke, has joined the National Wrestling Alliance. He appeared on Monday's episode of NWA Powerrr, interrupting a Trevor Murdoch and Outlandish zICKY Dice promo, saying that he's looking for team talent to change the landscape of wrestling and the NWA.

Pope would also join commentary for an NWA TV Title Tournament match between Ricky Starks and Eddie Kingston. He clarified that right now he's looking for a team in a managerial capacity, but said that he could appear in "any capacity he chooses." After Eddie Kingston's loss, Pope was seen nodding to him.

When we reached out to NWA about the matter, we were simply told "he's now a part of the team." Though Burke hasn't appeared in a wrestling capacity on cable televised wrestling in quite a while, he's constantly reiterated that he's not retired. At 41 years old, the WWE and TNA Wrestling veteran has remained active for select independent dates.

Since 2011, Pope has also run the Love Alive Charity, helping to feed the homeless in Jacksonville.

Fightful has interviewed Pope multiple times, including for Wikipedia Fact Check, which you can check out at this link.
