The WWE 24/7 Title has been held by everyone from wrestlers to sports stars to media personalities. But an A-List actor has yet to get his or her hands on the gold and green belt.
That almost changed in October when R-Truth met the cast of "Dolomite Is My Name" and WWE went to Staples Center for the premiere of SmackDown on Fox.
"I got a chance to interview Eddie Murphy, Michael Keegan-Key, Wesley Snipes. And these people was wanting to come to the show that night and Wesley Snipes was talking about becoming the first actor to become 24/7 Champion," R-Truth revealed to Sam Roberts on the Not Sam Wrestling Podcast. "Wesley Snipes had his head on his chin while I was interviewing him and contemplating on 'what do I have on my schedule tonight? Because I think I'm going to go to the Staples Center and try to win this title.' That would have been great, man."
Truth continued, discussing how he was seemingly star-struck by meeting Eddie Murphy.
"Upon meeting Eddie Murphy, when I walked in, he recognized who I was. I was like, 'You watch wrestling?' 'Yeah, I watch, I got kids.' I'm like, 'Okay, he's gonna be loose.' I was like, 'Eddie, can I just look at you, just give me like 42 seconds.' He bust out laughing. '42 seconds?' 'Yeah.' Everybody was laughing. I legit stood there for 42 seconds and watched Eddie Murphy. 'Dude, you're an icon. I can't believe I'm about to interview you.' Me and Eddie laughed so much, it's like I knew him my whole life. Me and Wesley laughed so much. This 24/7 [title] does so much. It's introducing WWE to people or re-visiting WWE with people and taking it all in and soaking it all up."
Sadly, Wesley Snipes did not show up to the Staples Center to win the 24/7 Title. Instead, WWE briefly put the belt on DJ Marshmello at the event.
Elsewhere on the podcast, R-Truth discussed making "shiznit into lemonade" with the 24/7 Title. You can view his full comments by clicking here.
