Randy Orton Turns On Cody Rhodes On 3/13 WWE SmackDown

Randy Orton turns on Cody Rhodes.
The Viper earned himself an Undisputed WWE Championship match at WrestleMania after winning the Elimination Chamber. At that time, Drew McIntyre was the champion. But on the very next SmackDown, Cody Rhodes regained the title.
A contract signing segment between him and Randy Orton was announced for the 3/13 WWE SmackDown. Things were going smoothly for a while. Both Orton and Rhodes were friends on screen. The American Nightmare talked about their history together and said no matter what happens after the bell rings, he’ll love Randy.
Both wrestlers signed the contract. Then all of a sudden, Orton slammed Rhodes’ head into the table and hit him with a low blow. He would take Rhodes out of the ring and use the steel steps to hit him in the shoulders.
By this point, Rhodes started bleeding. But Orton didn’t stop and continued his assault on Cody for the next few minutes until the locker room came to save him. Orton’s friend, Jelly Roll, also tried to de-escalate the situation, but The Viper pushed him as well.
When it seemed like things were settling again, Orton came back for a nasty chair shot on Rhodes. The segment ended with Orton posing with the Undisputed WWE Title in the ring as he sat on a chair.
