Clemons was reportedly signed by WWE in August 2020 after WWE purchased EVOLVE. He was announced as part of the WWE Performance Center recruiting class in October 2020.

WWE wrote about Clemons at that time, "Jake Clemons of Ohio is a referee who has officiated matches on Monday Night Raw, as well as for promotions like EVOLVE and AIW."

Clemons is best known as being the "Seth Rollins referee" on WWE Raw in February 2020 when he screwed over Kevin Owens in a match against Randy Orton. Owens gave him a stunner for his trouble. The angle was quickly dropped on television.

Clemons posted the following message on social media after news of his release came out:

Absolute Intense Wrestling has already informed Fightful that Jake Clemons has an upcoming booking on one of their shows.
