Two years after her debut at AEW Double or Nothing 2019, Awesome Kong reportedly won't be back with the company.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reports AEW did not renew the contract of Awesome Kong. Kong was part of the Nightmare Collective with Brandi Rhodes, though the group was dropped in early 2020. She had not wrestled for AEW since the January 7, 2020 episode of AEW Dark when she defeated Skyler Moore.
Kong also served as a coach for the company, but Fightful Select reports that she had not been around much after she wasn't cleared to wrestle.
Meltzer also reports that Shanna's contract was not renewed by AEW. She most recently wrestled on the April 12 episode of AEW Dark: Elevation, losing to Leyla Hirsch.
She missed the majority of the pandemic era for AEW, wrestling in February 2020 on Dynamite before missing time. She returned to the company in November 2020, becoming a regular on AEW Dark and Dark: Elevation.
