Zayne wrestled his final independent match on November 8 at GCW So Much Fun against Tony Deppen. He's also appeared on recent episodes of NJPW Strong. He is scheduled to compete on the November 13 episode of NJPW Strong, teaming with Adrian Quest to take on ACH & Blake Christian.

Fightful Select reported on November 5 that WWE had interest in Zayne, while also noting that he impressed NJPW officials with his appearances on Strong.

He has been active during the pandemic, competing in multiple Independent shows and becoming a regular at GCW events. In October 2019, he wrestled at IMPACT All Glory, competing in a triple threat match against Blake Christian and Mark Wheeler. In January 2020 he made his Ring of Honor debut, scoring a victory over Bandido.

WWE has yet to confirm the signing.
