Report: Cain Velasquez Released By WWE

After just one televised match in WWE, Cain Velasquez is reportedly gone from the company.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Velasquez was released by WWE, the latest in a long list of talent releases.

Velasquez, who is a former UFC Heavyweight champion, arrived in WWE in October 2019 to start a feud with Brock Lesnar after the two fought in the octagon at UFC 121 in 2010. The two eventually had a match for the WWE Championship at the Crown Jewel show in Saudi Arabia.

After that match, Velasquez was not used on WWE television but did compete at a WWE live event in Mexico last November. He teamed with Humberto Carrillo to defeat Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson.

Prior to his run in WWE, Velasquez briefly wrestled for the Mexican promotion AAA, competing in six-man tag team matches at TripleMania XXVII and Invading NY.
