According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Cody was originally supposed to defend against Rey Fenix, but plans changed due to the injury suffered by Fenix heading into the Double Or Nothing event on May 23.

Fenix should reportedly be back soon, and could've worked the match but management did not want to risk further injury. The belief is it would better to do the match when they could tear the house down with no worries.

With Fenix out for a short length of time due to injury, all members of Death Triangle are currently off of television. Fenix’s brother, Pentagon Jr. currently faces travel issues due to the Coronavirus pandemic currently plaguing the globe. PAC is also facing travel issues, but he is stuck in the United Kingdom. PAC did make an appearance for a video promo on the 5/20 episode of AEW Dynamite on TNT.
