Report: Goldberg vs. Ziggler, Reigns vs. Bryan Planned For SummerSlam

A couple of big matches are reportedly set for SummerSlam later this month.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there will be a bit of a change in one of the matches in the form of the previously announced matchup between Dolph Ziggler and The Miz. According to the Newsletter, that match will actually have Ziggler take on Goldberg, who has yet to make his return to WWE TV since June's WWE Super Showdown.

Dave Meltzer reports that Ziggler vs. Miz is actually a red herring. Although that has been the match being advertised for the show, the idea is that Goldberg, whom Ziggler has mentioned in recent weeks, would come back after Ziggler superkicked Shawn Michaels on the most recent episode of SmackDown Live.

Goldberg last wrestled at WWE Super Showdown in Saudi Arabia, where defeated The Undertaker in the main event. Goldberg's last match prior to that was against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania in 2017.

Another big match that is reportedly going to happen is between Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan, though that has yet to be officially announced by WWE. Neither man currently has a match, but a moment in the most recent episode of SmackDown where a metal structure collapsed on Reigns is to lead to a match against Bryan, as he would later be revealed as the one behind that attack.

This isn't the first time Reigns and Bryan squared off in a singles match on pay-per-view. Back in 2015, the two faced each other at the Fastlane pay-per-view in a No. 1 contenders match where the winner got to face Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 31. Reigns ended up winning the match against Bryan, but falling short in capturing the WWE World Heavyweight title at WrestleMania.
