Report: Mercedes Mone Expected Backstage At IMPACT Slammiversary, Expected To Face Giulia Upon Return

Mercedes Mone is reportedly set to be at IMPACT Slammiversary , and she has a major match lined up when she returns.

Mone has been sidelined since May, as she suffered an injury during her match with Willow Nightingale at NJPW STRONG Resurgence. NJPW then confirmed that Mone was dealing with an ankle injury. Since then, the timeline for her return has been unclear.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that Mone is expected to be in attendance at the IMPACT Slammiversary pay-per-view on July 15. Per Johnson, the belief is that she will be there to support Trinity, who will be challenging Deonna Purrazzo for the IMPACT Knockouts World Championship. Mone was previously in attendance for Trinity's IMPACT debut in April, while Trinity went to Japan to support Mone for her NJPW debut at Wrestle Kingdom 17.

Additionally, in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that the timeline for Mone's return is unclear, but the current plan calls for her to face Giulia for the NJPW STRONG Women's Championship. Giulia beat Nightingale to win the title at NJPW STRONG Independence Day.

Fightful Select reported that Mone was set to defeat Nightingale prior to her injury, but she called for the end of the match and the changed finish when she realized she was hurt.

Mone previously provided an injury update in June. More information is available here.

Trinity recently noted that she would be open to potentially doing something on-screen with Mone. Click here to see what she had to say.
