Report: Roman Reigns Wanted To Turn Heel Upon Returning To WWE At SummerSlam

"The Big Dog" knew it was time for a change.

Roman Reigns returned to WWE at SummerSlam and finally turned heel after six years as WWE's top babyface after John Cena. According to a new report, the switch in morality alignment was a direct call from Roman Reigns himself.

Dave Meltzer is reporting in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Roman Reigns who requested to become a heel before he finally returned to WWE after taking some time off due to uncertainty revolving around the global coronavirus pandemic.

It is noted in the report that it is not clear who made the decision to pair Paul Heyman with Roman Reigns but with Brock Lesnar currently a free agent and Paul Heyman no longer the executive director of Monday Night Raw, make sure that everything is this pairing is a way to keep Paul Heyman fresh and continuing to be used in a top-of-the-card capacity.

The next challenger for Roman Reigns’ Universal Championship will be determined tonight on SmackDown in a Fatal 4-Way Match featuring Matt Riddle, Sheamus, Big E, and “King” Baron Corbin.
