Live Coverage

The show begins and our commentary team of Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone and Excalibur welcome us to tonight's show and out comes Adam Cole, who joins the commentary team for our opening contest of the evening.

Jeff Hardy (with Matt Hardy) vs. Bobby Fish (with Kyle O'Reilly) — Owen Hart Foundation Tournament

Hardy and Fish trade arm-drags to start this one off. Fish sends Hardy to the corner and whips him with a leg snap. Fish drills Hardy with a clothesline then a cover but Hardy kicks out. Fish goes to the apron and leaps back into the ring with a dive but Hardy slides out and goes to the outside. Fish follows Hardy out and launches him into the barricade. The camera pans to the press-box where Sting and Darby Allin are keeping a keen eye on this one and we head to a commercial break. Back from the break and back in the ring, Fish wallops Hardy with a forearm but Hardy drills him with a kick. Fish trips Hardy to the mat and cracks him with a number of kicks, Hardy comes back with a pair of clotheslines and the double legs to the stomach. Hardy kicks Fish in the mid-section and plants him with the Twist of Fate then goes up top and looks for the Swanton Bomb but Fish gets up and trips Hardy on the top turnbuckle, follows him up and plants him with a diving brain-buster before going for the cover but Hardy kicks out at two-and-a-half! Fish transitions Hardy immediately into an arm-bar, then a leg-lock but Hardy drags himself to the ropes and grabs the bottom one to force the break. Hardy knocks Fish back with an elbow then goes up top and lands Whisper in The Wind. Hardy goes back up top and lands the Swanton Bomb for the 1-2-3!

After the match, Matt and Nick Jackson come down to the ring and come face-to-face with The Hardys before checking on Fish.

We then see a video package of William Regal's training session with Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley and Wheeler Yuta of Blackpool Combat Club.

Blackpool Combat Club (Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson & Wheeler Yuta (with William Regal) vs. The Butcher, The Blade & Angelico) (with The Bunny)

Butcher, Blade and Angelico go on the attack before the bell rings. Butcher and Danielson settle in as the legal competitors and this one is underway. Blade slams Danielson and world over his left arm before making the tag to Angelico, who locks Danielson in an awkward submission hold but Danielson slides out and rolls Angelico up but Angelico kicks out. Danielson sends Angelico to the corner and unloads a number of kicks before backing up and drilling him with a running knee. Danielson makes the tag to Yuta, who unloads a chop to Angelico's chest. Angelico kicks Yuta back and makes the tag to Blade, who's immediately planted with an overhead slam by Yuta. Butcher makes the blind tag on Blade, Yuta hits Butcher with a drop-kick but Butcher tosses him back and slams him down as we head to a commercial break. Back from the break and Yuta fends Butcher off long enough to make the tag to Moxley, Butcher tags in Blade and Moxley launches Blade out of the ring. Moxley sends Butcher into the barricade, then over the times-keeper's table and into the steel steps. Moxley tosses Butcher back into the ring and slams him down, Butcher attacks, Moxley rakes the big man's eyes and rushes Blade in the corner but Blade moves out and Moxley goes shoulder-first into the ring post. Blade makes the tag to Angelico, Moxley drills him with a knee and makes the tag to Danielson, who goes up top and blasts Angelico with a diving knee. Danielson stomps on Angelico, Yuta and Moxley crack Butcher and Blade with elbows and Danielson locks-in a triangle choke on Angelico and Angelico's forced to tap!

We then see FTW Champion Ricky Starks and Powerhouse Hobbs backstage with Tony Schiavone. Starks says he and Hobbs aren't scared of anybody, AEW World Tag Team Champions, Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus of Jurassic Express, alongside Christian interrupt and Jungle Boy says Starks' idea of Jurassic Express defending their titles against Starks and Hobbs sounds good...but since he knows that Starks is such a 'spicy' kind of guy, why don't they spice it up? Jungle Boy proposes a match between he and Starks for Starks' FTW Title, Starks accepts and it's announced that Wardlow will face MJF's mystery opponent, after the break.

Back from the break and Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland are backstage with Tony Schiavone. Swerve says Ricky Starks and Powerhouse Hobbs need to stop worrying about the AEW Tag Titles because they have unfinished business. Lee says when it's all said and done, Starks and Hobbs will 'Swerve in their glory'.

Wardlow vs. MJF's Mystery Opponent

Wardlow makes his way down to the ring with no entrance music, whilst handcuffed and escorted by a number of AEW security guards. MJF then makes his way down to the ring, alongside Shawn Spears. MJF says he'd love to say it's great to be back in Maryland, but if he did, he'd be a 'lying piece of shit'. MJF says he's not staying out there because he can't stand to see the 'disgusting pigs' in the crowd, so, he'll watch the match from the back. MJF introduces William Morrissey as his hand-picked opponent! Wardlow scoops Morrisset and sends him to the corner before letting out a massive scream and flex. Morrissey clocks Wardlow with a knee to the mid-section and a few clubbing hammer fists to the back. Morrissey sends Wardlow to the corner and drills him with a splash but Wardlow returns the favor with a spear in the corner. Wardlow goes for another spear but Morrissey jumps over him and clotheslines him out of the ring. Morrissey follows Wardlow to the outside and the two behemoths trade strikes and Morrissey launches him into the ring post. Morrissey mocks Enzo Amore's dance as the crowd cheers for Enzo but Morrissey flips them off and says this is his 'f*cking house'. Morrissey slams Wardlow into the apron and tosses him back into the ring. Wardlow fights back with a few shots but Morrissey plants him with an axe-handle slam and goes for the cover but Wardlow kicks out. Morrissey puts Wardlow on the top turnbuckle, lands a forearm to the back and follows him up there. Wardlow fights back with some elbows, Morrissey's knocked off the top and Wardlow comes crashing down with a moonsault that takes out Morrissey. Wardlow lines Morrissey up for a power-bomb and he plants him with a massive one and gets the three-count!

— After the match, security goes to handcuff Wardlow but the big man fights back and takes them all out. MJF and Shawn Spears come back out and send out a bunch more security, Wardlow lays them all out and launches one into the rest of the pile on the outside. Wardlow grabs a microphone and says it doesn't matter how big they are or how strong they are, they'll all go down one-by-one until MJF releases him from his contract. MJF asks Wardlow how he'd feel if they had a match. MJF says if Wardlow wins, he'll let him out of his contract. MJF says it's on...but there's a couple conditions and he'll give Wardlow those conditions in a contract signing...which won't happen in a 'dump' like Maryland...it'll happen in the most 'magical place in the world', Long Island, New York, next Wednesday on Dynamite.

Backstage, we see Tony Schiavone, who's with Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D., Jamie Hayter, Ruby Soho and Toni Storm. Britt says every page of the AEW history books has her written all over it and calls herself Britt Baker, the history maker. Ruby says she can't listen to Britt talk anymore and Toni can't wait to get her hands on Jamie and when it comes to Britt, she has a receipt to answer for. The four argue and we head to a commercial break.

Back from the break and Tony Schiavone's in the ring and he introduces AEW World Champion, Adam 'Hangman' Page. The champion makes his way down to the ring and Schiavone asks Page about his upcoming title defense at Double Or Nothing against CM Punk. Page says it would be easy to come down here and talk about how much he respects Punk and how great it'll be to shake Punk's hand and have an all-time classic against 'The Best in The World' but that's not gonna happen and at Double Or Nothing, there's not going to be a handshake and it won't be a 'masturbatory' Bret Hart tribute match. Page says he's going to 'destroy' CM Punk and Page calls out a fan wearing a Punk t-shirt and says they'll be requesting a refund after their match or he'll just burn the shit altogether. Page says Punk isn't there tonight and if he was a betting man, which he is, Punk's probably off filming another TV show. Page says he's going to embarrass Punk...and since Punk wanted a fight, it'll be the fight of his life. Page slams the microphone down, hoists his title above his head and exits.

We then see Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt and Satnam Singh backstage. Sonjay says it's nice that AEW brings out the red carpet for all this international talent except Singh. Lethal says AEW's backing the wrong horse of Konosuke Takeshita and propose a match against Takeshita this Friday on Rampage because he wants to show him what a real professional wrestler is and he'll get his red carpet no matter what.

Chris Jericho (with Daniel Garcia, Jake Hager & 2point0) vs. Santana (with Ortiz)

Santana attacks Jericho right away and lights up Jericho with a bevy of strikes. Jericho gets momentum and trips Santana and tosses him into the ring. Jericho launches Santana to the corner and plants him with a slam and we head to a commercial break. Back from the break and Jericho's working over Santana's arm. Jericho puts Santana on the top turnbuckle, follows him up there, Santana fights back with some headbutts, knocks Jericho to the mat and comes diving down with a splash before going for the cover but Jericho lifts the shoulders after a count of two. Jericho trips Santana and locks in The Walls of Jericho, Santana crawls to the ropes and forces the break. Jericho celebrates and thinks he's won the match then argues with referee Aubrey Edwards, Santana uses the distraction and rolls Jericho up but Jericho kicks out. Both competitors unload a number of chops to the chest, Jericho shoves Santana back, Santana spring-boards himself off of the ropes and drills Jericho with a cutter then goes for the cover but Jericho kicks out at two-and-a-half! Angelo grabs a bat, Ortiz takes it away, Santana plants Jericho in the ring with a lariat and goes for the cover but Jericho kicks out. Matt distracts the referee, Jericho low-blows Santana and drills him with The Judas Effect for the 1-2-3!

After the match, Jericho Appreciation Society rush the ring and attack Santana and Ortiz as commentary announces that Eddie Kingston's not in the building tonight and we cut backstage where Samoa Joe cuts a promo on Jay Lethal and says this Friday on Rampage, he's coming for Lethal.

Back from the break and we see Max Caster and Anthony Bowens of The Acclaimed. Austin, Colten and Billy Gunn of Gunn Club come in and Billy tells Caster and Bowens to ‘stick it in there’ and the five of them pose, signifying Gunn Club has accepted The Acclaimed’s offer to join forces.

Back to the ring, Brian Pillman Jr. & Griff Garrison of Varsity Blondes alongside Julia Hart confront Malakai Black, Brody King and Buddy Matthews of House of Black. Brian says he’s a humbled man and their first encounter with House of Black humbled him. Brian says he got complacent and Varsity Blondes lost their enthusiasm which is the exact moment House of Black broke them apart…but now, it’s a new day and he’s enthusiastic about keeping the group together. House of Black make their way down to the ring. House of Black quickly take out Varsity Blondes and they turn their attention to Hart. Malakai rips off Hart’s eye patch and yells at her but Death Triangle come down to make the save and House of Black retreat.

Rey Fenix vs. Dante Martin — Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Qualifier)

Dante shoves Rey to the corner to start. Rey lays Dante out with some high-paced offense and sends Dante to the outside, Dante gets right back in and we get a series of roll-ups but nothing comes of them. Dante latches onto Rey and flips him to the mat and lays him out, Rey slides out of the ring but Dante drills him with a tope suicida. Rey gets back in the ring and spring-boards himself off the ropes and drills Dante with a kick, Rey jumps on the middle turnbuckle and wallops Dante with a back-flip leg sweep and goes for the cover but Dante kicks out! Rey looks for a power-bomb but launches Dante in the air and plants him with a cutter. Dante lands a super-kick and goes up top but Rey trips him up and goes for a Spanish Fly but both land on their feet. Dante lands a poisonrana and goes up top and looks for a five but Rey slides out then plants Dante with a package pile-driver for the 1-2-3!

AEW Women’s World Champion, Thunder Rosa comes out to the stage. Rosa says she’s the backbone of the AEW Women’s division and she wants to face the best in the world. Rosa calls out Serena Deeb, who makes her way out. Deeb says this is a long-time coming and for AEW Women’s division to be the best in the world, the best Women’s wrestler in the world needs to be their champion…which is her [Deeb]. Rosa laughs and Deeb says Rosa will have the shortest reign in AEW history because at Double Or Nothing, she’s taking that title. Commentary runs down this Friday's card for Rampage as well as next Wednesday's episode of Dynamite and we'll head to a commercial break ahead of our main event of the evening.

Deonna Purrazzo (C) vs. Mercedes Martinez (IC) — Undisputed Ring Of Honor Women’s World Championship

Deonna doesn’t shake Mercedes’ hand for The Code of Honor and kicks Mercedes’ hand away and this one is officially underway. Chops from both champions start this one off. Deonna works over Mercedes’ arm, sends Mercedes to the corner and unloads stomps. This one spills to the outside, both competitors brawl and trade heavy strikes, Deonna sends Mercedes into the ring post and both make it back into the ring to beat the referee’s count. Mercedes lands a bevy of clotheslines and drills Deonna with a pair of big boots to the face in the corner, then a running knee, then a brain-busted and goes for the cover but Deonna kicks out. Deonna trips Mercedes to the mat then wallops her with a lariat and goes for a cover of her own but Mercedes kicks out. Deonna goes up top, Mercedes follows and slaps Deonna in the face and slams her to the mat. Mercedes lands some stomps and looks for the Dragon Sleeper, Deonna bites Mercedes’ hands to break the hold but Mercedes tightens it and Deonna taps!
