IMPACT Wrestling Results for 1/28/20 Elgin vs Edwards in a Best of Five Series

Hey Fight Fans, it's time for IMPACT Wrestling on AXS TV featuring the first of five matches between Michael Elgin and Eddie Edwards!

Josh Alexander w/Ethan Page vs Vikingo

Josh shows off his superior grappling by taking Vikingo down before Vikingo comes back with a springboard dropkick into a huricanrrana and a suicide dive. Josh turns Vikingo inside out on the ramp before rolling him back into the ring for two before Vikingo locks in an armbar. Josh powers to his feet and powerbombs Vikingo before hitting a delayed suplex for two and Vikingo comes back with a springboard shotgun dropkick into a flipping senton over the top rope and onto Josh at ringside. Vikingo hits a moonsault off of the railing at ringside before Ethan distracts him and Vikingo hits him with an Asai moonsault. Back in the ring Vikingo hits a shotgun dropkick in the corner and running knees before hitting a 450 for a near fall.

Josh catches Vikingo in midair and hits a backbreaker for a near fall before they exchange pin attempts and Vikingo counters a Tiger driver for the pin and the win.

Winner: Vikingo defeats Josh Alexander via pinfall.

-We then get a brief interview with Taya Valkyrie backstage where she talks about the number one contender match for her Knockouts Championship later tonight as we go to commercial.

-We come back to a promo by Moose ahead of his match against Taurus later tonight before Sacrifice is announced for February 22nd on IMPACT+.

The Rascalz (Dez & Wentz) vs Pagano & Murder Clown

Clown picks Wentz up and slams him before missing a senton and Wentz trips him before hitting a dropkick and Pagano and Dez come in. Pagano hits a swinging neckbreaker and chops Dez before he comes back with forearms and The Rascalz double up on Pagano. Murder sweeps The Rascalz and drags them out of the ring before Pagano hits a flipping senton to the outside and Pagano and Murder Clown hit an assisted diving leg drop. Pagano and Murder hit Wentz with a diving blockbuster powerbomb combo and Wentz catches Murder on the top turnbuckle. The Rascalz hit a double superplex into diving senton and a diving, flipping leg drop for the pin and the win.

Winner: The Rascalz defeat Murder Clown and Pagano via pinfall.

-We get a promo by Michael Elgin backstage ahead of his first match in a series of five he will be having in the coming months against Eddie Edwards as we go to commercial.

Moose vs Taurus

They run the ropes before Taurus hits a huricanrrana and Moose rolls out of the ring momentarily before getting back in and exchanging chops with the luchador. Taurus hits a whisper in the wind into a suicide dive before Moose whips him into the ring post, Moose accidentally chopping said post before sending Taurus into it face first. Taurus gets back into the ring and Moose stands on him before ripping at his mask and dropping him with a boot in the corner before playing to the crowd. Moose hits running back elbows in the corner before Taurus picks his ankle and hits a 619 into an enzuigiri and a sling blade for two. They then counter each other before rocking each other with headbutts and Moose sends Taurus shoulder first into the corner before hitting a spear for the pin and the win.

Winner: Moose defeats Taurus via pinfall with a spear.

-After the match Rhino comes into the ring and Gores Moose as we go to commercial.

-We come back to a promo by Eddie Edwards ahead of his match against Michael Elgin later tonight before we get the IMPACT+ Flashback Moment of the Week featuring a match between Kurt Angle and James Storm before we get a backstage interview with Joey Ryan.

Knockouts Championship Number One Contender Triple Threat Match

Jordynne Grace vs Madison Rayne vs Kiera Hogan

Hogan and Rayne double up on Grace as soon as the match starts, but she is quick to overpower them before hitting a double clothesline. Kiera and Madison take turns dishing out punishment to Jordynne before Madison saves Kiera and they hit running clotheslines in the corner. Jordynne comes back with a double suplex and scoop slams before hitting a Michinoku driver for a near fall that Madison breaks up. Jordynne climbs to the top before she's slammed down and both Madison and Kiera go for the pin, but the referee isn't having it. Jordynne locks in a double submission before she's sent out of the ring with kicks and Kiera and Madison begin to argue.

Jordynne then drops Madison face first across the apron before hitting Kiera with a Michinoku driver once she's back in the ring for the pin and the win.

Winner: Jordynne Grace defeats Kiera Hogan and Madison Rayne via pinfall when she pins Kiera with a Michinoku driver to become the new number one contender for Taya Valkyrie's Knockouts Championship.

-We then get a video narrated by X-Division champion Ace Austin as we go to commercial.

-We come back to Johnny Swinger once again trying to get Willie Mack to team up with him before he's shot down yet again before we go to TJP and Fallah Bahh arguing before TJP reassures Bahh and leaves.

Reno Scum vs Daga & Dr.Wagner Jr.

Adam and Daga start the match off with Adam putting Daga in a side headlock and dropping him with a shoulder block before Daga hits a huricanrrana and tags in Luster. Luster tags in Wagner who locks up with Luster and gets shoved away with ease before catching Wagner when he goes for a running cross body and slamming him to the mat for two. Wagner comes back with strikes and he and Daga chop Luster in the corner before Luster sends them both out of the ring and Adam sends Daga into the railing. Adam tosses Daga back into the ring and hits him with right hands in mount for two once he's the legal man before Reno Scum cut the ring in half. Daga fights his way out of the corner and gets the tag to Wagner who drops both members of Reno Scum with back elbows and dragon screws. Luster is sent out of the ring before Daga takes him out with a tope and Wagner hits Adam with a falcon arrow for two. Reno come back and take out Wagner before Adam hits a DVD to Daga for a near fall Wagner breaks up and Wagner takes out Luster at ringside with a cannonball off of the apron. Daga then hits Adam with a variation of a bloody cross for the pin and the win.

Winner: Daga and Dr.Wagner Jr. defeat Reno Scum via pinfall when Daga pins Adam with a Bloody Cross.

-After the match Madman Fulton and the Crists come out of nowhere and attack Dr.Wagner Jr. and Daga as we go to commercial.

-We return to Suzie backstage where Rosemary shows up and talks to her before giving her a gift and leaving.

Best of Five Series Match One

Michael Elgin vs Eddie Edwards

Eddie tries to take Michel down, but he's right back up before they try to knock each other over and Eddie takes out the leg of Michael. Eddie locks in a cross face, but Michael gets to the ropes quickly for the break before rolling out of the ring and Eddie hits a suicide dive. Michael rocks Eddie with a forearm at ringside before Eddie lands on his feet when Michael goes for a German suplex. Elgin then counters a huricanrrana and slings Eddie into the railing as we go to commercial.

We return to the ring to Elgin in control of Eddie before Eddie hits a running forearm in the corner into a blue thunder bomb and a dragon screw. Michael catches Eddie coming in with a boot before Eddie hits an enzuigiri into a back pack stunner for two before immediately following up with a single leg Boston crab before transitioning into a cross face. Elgin counters a Tiger driver and drops Eddie on his neck with a reverse piledriver before hitting running clotheslines in the corner. Elgin hits a series of German suplexes before hitting a sliding forearm to the back of Eddie's neck for two before they exchange forearms. They exchange a variety of strikes until Eddie turns Elgin inside out with a lariat and hits a Tiger bomb for a near fall.

Elgin counters a frankensteiner into an avalanche DVD for a near fall before locking in a cross face and beats Eddie unconscious with elbows before choking him for the referee stoppage and the win.

Winner: Michael Elgin defeats Eddie Edwards via referee stoppage to go up 1-0 in the best of five series.
