  • Vic Joseph & Booker T. Huffman welcomed the audience to the broadcast before transitioning into the opening match.
  • After announcing that Randy Orton would compete on the 10/8 edition of NXT and that Sexxy Red would be back for the NXT premiere on The CW, Ava moderated the contract signing with Trick Williams & NXT Champion Ethan Page. Williams said that he would get back what was stolen from him, but Page responded by saying he won this and said he would put Williams a face of disappointment and bowed to put an end Williams's trials for the title and stay champion. Williams tried to respond, but Page kicked Williams in the gut before hitting the Ego's Edge on the contract table.
  • In a backstage segment from last week, Alex Hammerstone was confronted by Tony D'Angelo for not taking out Oba Femi in his match. D'Angelo then said that instead of taking care of Oba, he would take care of him.
  • Ava spoke with Robert Stone & Stevie Turner before Je’Von Evans & Cedric Alexander met Ava for a chance to get booked on the card for the 10/8 edition of NXT in Saint Louis. Ava told Evans she would think about it.
  • Lyra Valkyria & Tatum Paxley def. Wendy Choo & Rosemary via Pinfall (Flying Guillotine Leg Drop from Valkyria on Rosemary).
  • Sarah Schreiber interviewed Ava & Trick Williams, and they both guaranteed that the contract for the match on the 10/1 edition NXT would get signed tonight.
  • The No Quarter Catch Crew (Charlie Dempsey, Tavion Heights, Myles Borne & Wren Sinclair) prepared for their match backstage before Dempsey told Sinclair to make a name for herself tonight.
  • Alex Hammerstone def. Tony D'Angelo (w/ Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo, Adrianna Rizzo & Luca Crucifino) via Count-out.
  • Zachary Wentz appeared from the crowd and showed footage of Wes Lee attacking Trey Miguel in his home city. Wentz said the pain he would Lee would be ten times worse than what he put Miguel through in that attack.
  • Tyrese Haliburton spoke with Ava, Robert Stone & Stevie Turner before Ava gave him a contract.
  • Sarah Schreiber interviewed Fatal Influence (Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley & Jasmyn Nyx) who said they only spoke the truth and said that Vice was a great fighter but not a star like them.
  • Lola Vice was training backstage while Brinley Reece spoke to her before Jaida Parker interrupted and said she would go after Fatal Influence, but Vice said that Parker could have them after she was done with them.
  • Eddy Thorpe def. Ashante Adonis via Pinfall (Impaler DDT).
  • Charlie Osbourne & Thea Hail had a vignette backstage, where Hail said she was heartbroken by Ridge Holland and Osbourne said he would get revenge for Chase University.
  • CM Punk came to the ring for a promo for his first appearance in NXT since 2013 (teaming with Seth Rollins against The Kings of Wrestling [Cesaro & Kassius Ohno]). Punk was about to make his announcement, but he was interrupted by NXT Women's Champion Roxanne Perez. Perez reminisced about Punk being an inspiration for her but then said she should have been a Drew McIntyre and said she would make Chicago her own when she retains against Giulia and said she would not change for anyone. Punk put over Perez's aggression and said Perez would fit right in with the top women in NXT but that would not matter if she got her ass handed to her by Giulia. Giulia interrupted to say the countdown was one and she had two weeks left. Perez tried to attack Giulia, but Punk stopped Perez.
  • Sarah Schreiber interviewed NXT Women's North American Champion Kelani Jordan, where she said she could host an open challenge. Wren Sinclair interrupted by saying she was here to "make a name for herself" before slapping the hell out of Jordan. Jordan then chased Sinclair around backstage.
  • Tony D'Angelo met with The D'Angelo Family (Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo, Adrianna Rizzo & Luca Crucifino) where he said he did not know if he could beat Oba Femi and he was afraid.
  • Je'Von Evans & Cedric Alexander def. No Quarter Catch Crew (Tavion Heights & Myles Borne) (w/ Charlie Dempsey & Wren Sinclair) via Pinfall (Twisting Splash on Borne).
    • After the match, Je'Von Evans was announced to be Randy Orton's opponent on the 10/8 edition of NXT.
  • Ridge Holland was interviewed backstage while Shawn Spears was watching, where Holland said he would destroy Chase Universty and he would see Riley Osbourne next week. Brooks Jensen then appeared and asked Spears if he was coming for his match tonight.
  • Brooks Jensen (w/ Shawn Spears) def. Dion Lennox via Pinfall (Spike DDT).
  • Wes Lee spoke about his "visit" to Ohio and said he would try and send Wentz back to TNA now that it was a one-on-one match.
  • A-Town Down Under (Austin Theory & Grayson Waller) called out NXT Tag Team Champions Super Sonic Duo (Axiom & Nathan Frazer) to a match on the 10/8 edition of NXT. The title match was made official.
  • Lola Vice def. Jacy Jayne (w/ Fallon Henley & Jasmyn Nyx) via Pinfall (Backfist to Heaven).
    • Fatal Influence attacked Vice after the match, but Jaida Parker made the save for Vice. Vice & Parker then got into a heated argument after Parker interfered without her permission.
  • Adrianna Rizzo met with Tony D'Angelo to give some motivation to D'Angelo.
  • Tyrese Haliburton moderated an impromptu contract signing with Trick Williams & NXT Champion Ethan Page. Page thought this was ridiculous but it was fine by him but said that, when it comes to the NXT Title, Williams was the rest of the NBA while he was the Boston Celtics. After they both signed the contract, it was revealed that CM Punk would be the special guest referee for the NXT Title Match on the 10/1 edition of NXT, premiering on The CW. Williams & Page brawled under CM Punk's supervision before an army of security guards separated them to end the broadcast.
