WWE SmackDown (10/20/2023) Results: Iyo Sky vs Charlotte Flair, John Cena, Logan Paul, More Appear

On October 20, 2023, WWE hosted a new episode of Friday Night SmackDown on FOX.

The show was headlined by Iyo Sky defending her WWE Women's Championship against Charlotte Flair. The full results are listed below.

WWE SmackDown (10/20/2023).

  • After a video recapping the events of last week, Paul Heyman kicked off the show and praised Jimmy Uso for costing Jey Uso & Cody Rhodes the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles at the 10/16 edition of Raw and talked about Roman Reigns defending his Undisputed WWE Universal Title at Crown Jewel. Heyman put over LA Knight as a competitor but emphasized that Reigns would retain the title at Crown Jewel.
    LA Knight interrupted and stole the microphone from Heyman before saying that he needed Reigns's ass now. After he got no response, he demanded Heyman to get back in the ring. Heyman tried to leave, but Knight told Heyman that he would knock his hair back to grey if he left. Knight said that he would not stop until he won the Undisputed Universal Championship before telling Heyman to just admit if Reigns was scared of him. Knight remarked that he would be one the win the Universal Title off Reigns at Crown Jewel.
  • Montez Ford was seen training with Angelo Dawkins & Bobby Lashley ahead of his match against Santos Escobar.
  • Montez Ford (w/ Angelo Dawkins & Bobby Lashley) def. Santos Escobar (w/ Joaquin Wilde & Cruz del Toro).
    • In the last parts of the match, Angelo Dawkins pushed Escobar into the ring post. Angelo Dawkins laid out Wilde & Del Toro, but Escobar caught him with a V-Trigger to lay him out. Escobar rolled back in the ring, but Ford got Escobar in La Casita while pulling Escobar's trunks to pick up the win.
      Dawkins & Ford continued to attack Escobar, but Carlito ran down the ramp with the chair to make the save.
  • The Latino World Order (Carlito, Santos Escobar, Cruz del Toro, Joaquin Wilde & Zelina Vega) spoke backstage before WWE United States Champion Rey Mysterio checked on them. Mysterio then told them that he would head out because he was going to deal with Logan Paul on his own later tonight.
  • Pretty Deadly (Elton Prince & Kit Wilson) celebrated their win against The Brawling Brutes (Butch & Ridge Holland) in the spa, but they were attacked by the Brutes. After the brutal attack, Holland invited Butch for a pint.
  • Jey Uso met with Solo Sikoa & Paul Heyman backstage, where he celebrated costing the titles to Jey Uso. They stopped talking when they noticed John Cena arriving at the arena.
  • John Cena came to the ring to cut a promo. Cena said that he praised Roman Reigns's streak as world champion before revealing that it had been 2,002 days since he last won a Television match. Cena then said he had thought about retiring, but still believed that he could go and promised to turn the math around before hosting an open challenge.
    Solo Sikoa came to the ring and confronted Cena before the two brawled. Jimmy Uso came to the ring and hit a Thrust Kick on Cena. The two continued to attack Cena before Jey Uso came to the ring and attacked Jimmy Uso. The Uso Brothers were separated by security guards, which allowed Cena to hit the Attitude Adjustment on Sikoa.
  • The Unholy Union (Isla Dawn & Alba Fyre) had a vignette calling out WWE Women's Tag Team Champions Chelsea Green & Piper Niven before saying that they would be returning soon.
  • Jey Uso was backstage with Nick Aldis before Adam Pearce joined in. Pearce & Aldis before Aldis had the decree to escort both Jey Uso & Adam Pearce out of the arena, but not before announcing that Jey Uso would be fined $10,000 Dollars.
  • Logan Paul came to the ring to cut a promo, where he bragged about defeating Dillon Danis in a boxing fight. Paul said that he was not in SmackDown for Rey Mysterio, saying that the last time he was here Roman Reigns was still full-time, Dominik was still with Rey Mysterio, and incorrectly stated that LA Knight did not have a job at that time (even though but that he was a part of the NX Roster). Paul then stated that he was here for the WWE United States Championship.
    Rey Mysterio interrupted Logan Pual, saying that Paul & Dominik were just as dumb as each other and stated that needed to humble Paul. Mysterio then challenged Logan Paul to a match at Crown Jewel for the United States Title, which Paul accepted.
  • There was a video package promoting the match between Charlotte Flair & Iyo Sky for the WWE Women's Championship happening in the Main Event of the evening.
  • A-Town Down Under (Austin Theory & Grayson Waller) def. Dragon Lee & Cameron Grimes.
  • Cathy Kelley had a sit-down interview with Kevin Owens. Owens said that being traded to SmackDown was bittersweet, but was looking forward to a new chapter in his career. Owens said that he hopes not to crossover against The Bloodline again, but was eager to face guys like Rey Mysterio, and The Brawling Brutes, and even offered to punch Grayson Waller & Austin Theory in the face.
  • WWE Women's Championship Match: Iyo Sky (c) (w/ Bayley & Dakota Kai) def. Charlotte Flair.
    • Charlotte Flair hit a Spear on Sky, but Bayley put Sky's foot on the ropes to break the pin. Flair attacked Bayley before heading back in the ring and attempting another spear, but Sky hit Flair with the championship to pick up the win and retain the championship.
      Sky & Bayley attacked Flair after the match, but they were stopped when Bianca Belair made the save. Belair laid out Sky & Bayley before hitting Bayley with the KOD. Belair & Flair stood tall to end the broadcast.
