WWE SmackDown Results (7/15/2022): Madcap Moss vs. Theory, Championship Contender's Match + More

- Michael Cole welcomed the audience to the broadcast before introducing his broadcast partner, Pat McAfee, to cut a promo to open the show. McAfee told the Orlando, Florida crowd that he was happy to be inside them (ayo). He then apologized for missing the 7/8/2022 edition of SmackDown because they had to suffer through listening to Corey Graves and Happy Corbin on commentary. McAfee said that Corbin's best thing he had done in WWE was to embrace the greatness of former IWGP Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura. McAfee recalled being roommates with Corbin back when they were rookies, saying that he would smack Corbin in the mouth so he could become an ordinary member of society again. Corbin interrupted McAfee's promo via the Titantron before telling him that he would see him at SummerSlam and that he got sick with monkeypox for sitting in McAfee's chair. McAfee ended his promo by introducing SmackDown Women's Champion Liv Morgan, setting up her match against Natalya after the commercial break.

Natalya vs Liv Morgan (c)

Natalya kicked Liv in the abdomen before the two exchanged strikes. Natalya got Morgan in a side headlock, but Liv reversed it with leg scissors which Natalya broke with a kick up. Morgan got Natalya with a side headlock but Natalya reversed it with leg scissors which Morgan broke with a kick-up. Natalya slapped Morgan, but Liv hit a shotgun dropkick on Natalya for a near fall. Morgan got Natalya with an O'Connor Roll for a near fall. Natalya got Morgan with a seated bomb before stomping Liv's neck. Morgan and Natalya exchanged pins before Liv hit an enziguri kick on Natalya. On the apron, Liv Morgan went for a Code breaker, but Natalya reversed it with a catapult onto the ring post before the commercial break. Morgan got Natalya with a sunset bomb for a near fall. Morgan got to the middle rope and hit another Shotgun Dropkick on Natalya. Morgan did a kick-up before hitting punches, a bicycle kick, and an enziguri kick on Natalya. Morgan rolled over Natalya to get a pin attempt for a near fall. Morgan hit a two-footed back stabber on Natalya, followed by a running uppercut. Natalya hit a German Suplex on Morgan for a near fall. Natalya tried to hit Morgan with a superplex, but morgan dropped Natalya on the top turnbuckle. Natalya hit Morgan with a Liger Bomb for a near fall. Natalya got Morgan in an Ankle Lock, but Morgan launched Natalya into the middle turnbuckle. Morgan hit the Code Breaker followed by a spring-rope flat liner for the pinfall win.

Winner: Liv Morgan (c).

- After the match, Kayla Braxton interviewed Morgan with the champion saying that Braxton will end up calling Morgan SmackDown Women's Champion after SummerSlam.

- Megan Morant interviewed Theory, who declared himself as the youngest ever MITB Winner of all time. Heyman interrupted the promo and told him that Theory that he was responsible for the biggest break of his career, alluding to Heyman's appearance in Evolve. Heyman gave Theory the idea to hold off the Cash-In on SummerSlam as it would draw more money, but Theory said that he was going to become the youngest WWE Undisputed Champion of all time, saying that he will hire Heyman after he wins the title.

- The New Raiders (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods dressed up as The Viking Raiders) came to the ring to cut a promo. Kingston slandered Woods for trying to do a Viking voice but sounding like a Pirate. Woods said that Raiders watched the Thor movies (including Thor: Love & Thunder, which had Dave Batista in the cast). The Viking Raiders came to the ramp and said that they would become hurt. Woods called them ugly, which led for The Viking Raiders to storm the ramp. From out of nowhere, Jinder Mahal and Shanky attacked The Viking Raiders to set up Kingston hitting a crossbody onto both members of The Viking Raiders. Shanky, Mahal, and The New Raid stood tall in the ring by dancing.

- Intercontinental Champion Gunther & Ludwig Kaiser were interviewed by Kayla Braxton, with Gunther saying that there is no room for failure and that losing is unacceptable. Braxton revealed that Kaiser would face Shinsuke Nakamura in a rematch. Gunther shouted at Kaiser in German before chopping the soul out of him. Braxton was hooked by Gunther's actions.

- Prior to the match, Evans started her theme music twice after being stormed with boos and cut a promo. Evans said that she found it disgusting that the crowd did not cheer her, saying she is everything the crowd can't be. Evans said that the crowd was a little offended by what she said, but the crowd was not impressed. The audience stormed the promo with "What" chants. Evans apologized for her statements, but the crowd did not accept the apology. Evans told the audience to go to hell before leaving the ring, canceling the match between Aliyah and Evans.

- Sheamus was scheduled to face Drew McIntyre in a #1 Contender's Match, but Samantha Irvin revealed that it was going to be McIntyre vs. Holland, with Butch making it official by ringing the bell.

Ridge Holland (w/ Sheamus & Butch) vs Drew McIntyre.

McIntyre hit Holland with an overhead suplex before hitting with the 10 Beats of The Bell. Sheamus and Butch distracted McIntyre, which led to Holland slamming McIntyre into the ring post. Holland hit a back-elbow, a corner lariat, and a power slam on McIntyre for a near fall. Holland got McIntyre in a headlock, but McIntyre broke it with a chop. McIntyre hit two lariats and a neck breaker on Holland. McIntyre punched Butch off the apron before hitting a Glasgow's Kiss and a White Noise on Holland, with McIntyre staring daggers at Sheamus. McIntyre hit the Claymore Kick on Sheamus for the pinfall win.

Winner: Drew McIntyre.

- There was a video package of Brock Lesnar attacking Chad Gable and Otis from the 7/11/2022 edition of Monday Night Raw.

- Megan Morant interviewed Madcap Moss, with he saying that he will squish Theory's head into a pancake. Heyman told Moss that he knew he was responsible for his biggest break of his career, recalling his time as Head of WWE Raw Creative and having Moss as an NXT Call-up member of the roster. Heyman pitched to Moss that if he beat Theory, he would have enough ammunition to give Moss a match against Roman Reigns. Moss pointed out that Heyman looked concerned before heading to the ring for his match.

- There was a video package highlighting Maximum Male Models, including Max Dupri, Ma.çé and Mån.sôör. Maxxine Dupri is set to debut in WWE on 7/22/2022 of SmackDownas a part of the Beachwear Colletion.

Theory vs. Madcap Moss.

Theory and Moss locked up before Moss slammed Theory into the ring corner. They locked up again before Theory slammed Moss into the corner. Moss hit Theory with two waist lock takedowns on Theory. Theory got Moss in a side headlock before hitting him with a shoulder tackle. Theory went for a leapfrog, but Moss caught him mid-air and hit him with a fall-away slam. Theory got Moss in a chin lock before slamming Moss's head into the top turnbuckle twice. Moss slammed Theory into the top turnbuckle before clotheslining Theory out of the ring. Moss slammed Theory on the apron. Moss went for a spear, but Theory leaped over Moss, leading to Moss running his shoulder into the stairs. Back from the commercial break, Theory hit a rolling Shotgun Dropkick on Moss for a near fall. Theory got Moss in another side headlock before Moss pushed Theory off him. Theory laid in the punches, but Moss popped up and hit a Pounce on Theory. Moss and Theory exchanged punches before Moss hit a lariat on Theory. Moss hit a corner spear on Theory before slamming him with a spine buster for a near fall. Moss went for a pile driver, but Theory reversed it with a twisting Back Suplex on Moss for a near fall. Theory guillotined Moss onto the top rope. Moss hit a shoulder tackle on Theory before pouncing Theory out of the ring. Outside of the ring, Theory hit Moss with his briefcase, ending the match in a disqualification.

Winner: Madcap Moss (via Disqualification).

- After the match, Sami Zayn came to the ramp to rightfully slander Theory, saying that he is disrespecting Roman Reigns. Zayn told him that when you insult the Bloodline, there are consequences, and recommended Theory apologize. WWE Undisputed Tag Team Champions, Jimmy Uso & Jey Uso, came to the ring to confront Theory, but Moss caught him and slammed Theory's head into the ring post, and tossed him over the barricade. Jimmy Uso prepared for the Main Event against Angelo Dawkins.

- Brock Lesnar is set to appear on the 7/22/2022 edition of SmackDown. SmackDown Women's Champion Liv Morgan and Ronda Rousey are set to face off before their match on Summerslam on the 7/22/2022 edition of SmackDown.

Jimmy Uso (w/ Jey Uso & Sami Zayn) vs. Angelo Dawkins (w/ Montez Ford)

Uso and Dawkins locked up before Dawkins leaned Jimmy into the corner before slamming him with a takedown. Uso hit a back elbow before hitting a Samoan Drop on Dawkins. Uso hit a spinning kick on Dawkins. Dawkins slapped Uso before hitting a clothesline on the back of Uso out of the ring. On ringside, Dawkins pounced Uso over the barricade before the commercial break. Back from the commercial break, Uso hit the Hip Attack on Dawkins, but Dawkins hit a punch on Uso. Dawkins hit a running elbow and a spinning under hook suplex for a near fall. Jimmy super kicked the referee. Jimmy Uso hit a super kick on Dawkins. Dawkins hit the Sky High on Uso for the pinfall win.

Winner: Angelo Dawkins (w/ Montez Ford).

- Amidst all the controversy about the pinfall, Adam Pearce revealed that the special guest referee for the WWE Undisputed Tag Team Championship Match for SummerSlam is none other than former Game Changer Wrestling and Global Force Wrestling Alumni & WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett. The Usos and The Street Profits brawled in the ring to end the show.
