The Revival were recently interviewed by NXT's hometown newspaper, The Orlando Sentinel, and the former Tag Champs spoke about why they became wrestling fans, as well as why they're able to have such great matches with so many different tag teams.
Spoiler alert: It's because they're awesome.
But we'll get to that.
First of all, Dash Wilder talked about becoming a wrestling fan at a young age: “I got into it young. My friends at school grew out of it, but I grew more into it and started finding ways to get into the ring. It kind of snowballed, then I got my foot in the door and here I am.”
When asked who his idol was when he was growing up, Scott Dawson talked about The Best There Was, The Best There Is, And The Best There Ever Will Be.
“I watched Bret Hart work three incredible matches with Razor Ramon, Mr. Perfect and Bam Bam. I’m in third grade. In his first match, his ribs got messed up. In his second match his fingers got messed up. And then he comes limping down to face a fresh Bam Bam Bigelow. The story of that match is just right there in the ring and it’s told for 25 minutes. And that’s when I decided I wanted to be a professional wrestler.”
The Revival have been called The Best Tag Team in the world, and some attribute that to the fact that they have great matches with practically every other team on the roster. Just don't tell Scott Dawson they have great chemistry with other teams.
“I’ve heard that a lot — ‘you guys have great chemistry.’ We heard that with [American] Alpha, we heard that with Enzo [Amore] & Cass, then we heard that with the Vaudevillains. Do we actually have great chemistry with those four or five tag teams, or are we just that good? We’re just that good. It sucks hearing that, great chemistry. We have great chemistry because we’re GOOD. We’re the BEST. We ARE the chemistry.”
And there you have it.
So don't worry about which brand The Revival get called up to--whether it's Raw or SmackDown, The Revival (because they are the chemistry) will give The Golden Truth or The Ascension their best matches ever.
