Over the past few years, two tag teams have been at the top of most lists when it comes to being the best tag team in the world. While the Young Bucks were putting on classic matches on the Independent scene, The Revival were making their name in NXT with classics of their own.
"Fuck The Revival" became a running joke on Being The Elite between the Young Bucks and Cody as, according to The Revival, Matt & Nick Jackson were jealous of their success in 2017.
"We were making our way in wrestling and for so long Matt & Nick were considered the best tag team in the world. We come along and started stealing the show on all the NXT shows. Maybe it put a little fear in those guys as far as who is the best in the world. But maybe they gained a little respect for us. We had never talked to them or met them. Even now, I don't know if we've met face-to-face. We heard that and were like, 'They didn't even come to us and speak to us.' It came out of nowhere and took us aback," said Scott Dawson on Talk is Jericho.
Dash Wilder added, "I had never watched Being The Elite. I don't really watch (wrestling) content, especially if we're on the road. We started getting tagged and it's Cody saying 'Fuck The Revival.' They didn't reach out, we'd never met, we didn't know if there was any animosity. We were just minding our own business, trying to knock it out of the park every night. Then, all of a sudden, there's this rivalry. We don't know how serious it is or the basis of it. If it's just because we were getting buzz and they were used to being the uncontested Tag Team of The Year. To this day, we don't know the whole backstory."
With The Revival now free agents following their WWE releases on April 10, The Young Bucks recently teased a possible Dawson & Wilder appearance on BTE by having the letter "FTR" show up in the sky.
