Rey Mysterio says a good match-up could bring him to Impact Wrestling
Since leaving WWE in 2014, Rey Mysterio has wrestled in Lucha Libre promotions and independent promotions around the world. In an interview with Sports Illustrated, the former WWE Champion and WCW World Heavyweight Champion revealed he has also had conversations with Impact Wrestling. Mysterio said Impact Wrestling was not in his plans.
“I was actually in conversations a while back with Impact about doing some shows. To be honest with you, it’s not that I don’t want to go work for them, it’s just like I didn't have it in my game plan. I also didn't have Lucha Underground in my game plan before it was created," said Mysterio.
Impact Wresting's roster is filled with names like Alberto El Patron, Bobby Lashley, and Ethan Carter III. Mysterio says the only reason he would wrestle at Impact Wrestling is to find a "dream match" the fans want to see.
“If the circumstances were right, I wouldn't mind going. I’m not interested in signing a contractual deal, but I would love to do some shows. People want to see diversity in their opponents and fans want to see their dream matches. If people want to see a match-up, let’s make it happen,” said Mysterio.
Also covered in the interview were Mysterio's philosophy on the cruiserweight style and it taking over wrestling. He also talked about Lucha Underground which is currently airing the second half of its third season on El Rey Network.
