Ric Flair: John Cena And I Congratulating Charlotte On Breaking Our Record Would Do A 2.3 Rating

Ric Flair pitches an idea for a segment that he thinks would draw over two million viewers.

Flair's daughter Charlotte returned to WWE on the December 30 episode of WWE SmackDown, where she beat Ronda Rousey to win the SmackDown Women's Championship. The title win marked Charlotte's fourteenth reign and brought her one step closer to making history. Ric and John Cena currently hold the record for most world title reigns in WWE history with 16.

During a recent appearance on The TODAY Show, Charlotte was asked whether she has her sights set on breaking the record. She stated that she wasn't focused on it earlier in her career, but now that she's so close to reaching the record, she believes it would be a huge milestone. Charlotte also noted that if she surpasses the record, Ric would be referred to her as her dad, whereas she is sometimes primarily viewed as Ric's daughter by some critics.

"Earlier in my career, no, but now that I’m so close, and to be the person to hold the most championships in what is known as predominantly an all-boy’s club, I think that’s huge. I think it’ll be ‘Charlotte’s dad’ if I surpass [the record]," Charlotte said.

On the newest episode of his To Be The Man podcast, Ric and co-host Conrad Thompson were talking about WWE Raw XXX. Ric brought up the strong viewership number and shared his belief that a potential segment where he and Cena congratulated Charlotte on breaking their record would draw well over two million viewers.

"If they ever want to get a 2.3 again, which they will, but I can guarantee you a 2.3, I could almost guarantee you a 3 if it was advertised if John Cena and I were gonna meet [Charlotte] in the ring to congratulate her on breaking our record," Ric said.

Thompson then shared Charlotte's comments about potentially breaking the record. Ric responded by emphasizing that he thinks the segment with him, Cena, and Charlotte would be great television. He stated that Cena would be honored to shake Charlotte's hand, and he thinks the moment would be worthy of ESPN.

"First of all, I am Charlotte's dad right now. I’m telling you, you talk about moments that make TV, for me and John, and I know John very well, John would be honored to shake her hand. The three of us in the ring together, you talk about a moment in sports, that’s an ESPN Top 10 highlight," he said.

Ric went on to point out that Charlotte still has to get two more title wins in order to reach the record, and she has plenty of time to do so. He then discussed her recent return to WWE and stated that she is in the best shape of her life. Ric described how Charlotte is in the best shape of her life, she's happy, and he's quite pleased with the situation.

"First of all, you gotta get to 15. Boy, if she gets to 15, and I mean if she loses it and wins or back again, she’s got plenty of time. She’s in the best shape of her life. I know I’m a braggadocios father. She came back fresher than ever, it’s the best thing that ever happened. I’m just so happy, and she’s happy as can be, and the company’s happy," Ric said.

On the same podcast, Ric described how he recently apologized to Becky Lynch. Check out his comments here.
