Ricochet: Wrestling In A Mask Gives You A Different Perspective

Ricochet discusses wrestling in a mask.

In-between his crowd pleasing performances as Ricochet in NJPW and WWE, the current NXT North American Champion wrestled as Prince Puma in Lucha Underground. Puma was the masked face of the first seasons of Lucha Underground, becoming the first man to hold the Lucha Underground title.

Speaking to Jim Varsallone of the Miami Herald, Ricochet discussed wearing a mask in Lucha Underground and how it gave him a different perspective in the ring.

"I would prefer no mask. It is much easier with vision and breathing, the temperature is hotter in a mask. The times that I won't wrestle with a mask on -- really, you have to take whatever the company's character is given to you and run with it," he said. "If you go out there and don't give that character for that company 100 percent, the fans will know. I don't prefer to be in the mask but with individual companies I had to be in a mask. So, I said, 'Alright, forget it. I'm going to take this character, be in this mask, and give it 100 percent.' It's fun, it gives you a different perspective on being inside the ring. I did enjoy that part of it."

Ricochet left Lucha Underground after three seasons following a loss to Pentagon Dark at Ultima Lucha Tres. He can currently be seen, without a mask, every Wednesday on NXT.
