The Rock And Tom Hanks Announce Their Candidacy For President...Sort Of

The Rock joined the SNL "five-timers" club Saturday, but his opening monologue tackled a much tougher topic.

Alongside fellow blockbuster movie star Tom Hanks, The Rock jokingly declared his intention to run for President. The two snubbed Alec Baldwin, who famously portrays Donald Trump on SNL.

“I would get the senior vote because I fought in World War II ... in several films,” Hanks joked. “I would get the minority vote because everyone just assumes I am what they are,” Johnson followed. “This isn’t real. Tom and I are only joking,” before stating that politics needed “more poise and less noise.”

The Rock has actually spoke about the situation over the last year, and didn't shoot down the possibility of a Presidential bid.

"I wouldn't rule it out. It would be a great opportunity to help people, so it’s possible. This past election shows that anything can happen," The Rock told Vanity Fair.

A recent poll showed The Rock would beat current President Donald Trump in a hypothetical election. You can see the Rock's opening monologue above.
