Roman Reigns Believes WWE Is In Good Hands With Seth Rollins

Roman Reigns backs Seth Rollins.

For years, Roman Reigns was pushed as the face of WWE. He main evented four straight WrestleMania events and defeated Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam 2018 to begin a Universal Title reign. Unfortunately for Reigns, his leukemia returned and he was forced to step away from the stoplight. In his place, Seth Rollins stepped up, winning the 2019 Royal Rumble and going on to defeat Lesnar at WrestleMania. Rollins has continued to main event pay-per-view events, including a SummerSlam victory over Lesnar.

Cameron Grimes: I Was Told By A High Executive That I Would Always Have A Job In WWE, I Was Released Five Days Later

“There is a lot to being the face of WWE,” Reigns told Sports Illustrated. “It’s not only about being in the ring. It’s about how you represent, and that is a 24-7, 365 job. You’ve got to be on all the time for 52 weeks a year. But I’m telling you now, my brother is legit. I was so proud of him and what he did at SummerSlam against Brock Lesnar. He obviously had one of those weeks where the Twitter machine and the Internet went nuts on him, but he bounced back and answered the call.”

Rollins caught some heat on Twitter when he proclaimed that WWE had the best wrestling and then got into a war of words with NJPW star Will Ospreay.

“Is he passionate?” asked Reigns. “God, yes. Is he blunt? Of course, that’s why I love him. He doesn’t sugarcoat, he’s very honest, and he is passionate, and he was born for professional wrestling. Seth loves the WWE. That’s why some people misread some of the things he says or the ways he delivers it, but he does mean well. He’s a workhorse. Yeah, he’s a little live at the mouth sometimes, but he’s got a heart of gold, trust me. Whether he’s on Raw or SmackDown, the WWE is in good hands with him as champion.”

Rollins was once again the victim of social media this past week as fans were unhappy with the ending of his Hell in a Cell bout against 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt. The hashtag #sethrollinsisnotcool began trending on Twitter. Rollins was not on Raw this past Monday.

Reigns and Rollins will face each other in the opening bout of Friday's SmackDown to determine who gets the first overall pick in the WWE Draft.
