Paul Heyman has been fired.

With Roman Reigns taking the week off last Friday, Paul Heyman aligned with Brock Lesnar and returned as his advocate for one night.

Reigns was back on the December 17 episode of WWE SmackDown and wanted answers. Heyman was honest with Reigns, saying that he wasn't protecting Lesnar from Reigns, he was protecting Reigns from Lesnar.

Reigns appreciated the honesty, hugging Heyman and thanking him for his service to his family. He then promptly fired Heyman as his special counsel and laid him out with a superman punch. Reigns and The Usos were looking to inflict further damage but Lesnar came down, laid out The Usos and took out the WWE Universal Champion with an F5.

Heyman and Reigns have been aligned since the August 28, 2020 episode of WWE SmackDown. Lesnar, who has been aligned with Heyman for the majority of his WWE career, returned at WWE SummerSlam 2021, putting questions into the relationship between Heyman and Reigns.

Lesnar and Reigns are set to meet for the WWE Universal Championship at WWE Day 1.
